Experience God’s Word In Art and Stories
December 9 & 10, 2023
The Living Nativity
Make the Living Nativity a part of your holiday tradition: December 9th & 10th at 7 pm & 7:45 pm.
A family holiday tradition for over 60 years in Brazoria County, the Living Nativity brings the Christmas story to life. “It has always been a part of our holiday celebration,” says Becky Gore-Laroche, “I have been attending since the very beginning; I have brought my children and now my grandchildren every year. [The live performance] is perfect for all ages, and a wonderful way to introduce children to the Christmas story. It is a very special part of the holidays for our family.”
For the Weir twins, Kamryn and Kyndzi, it has been an opportunity to enter into the story as one of the many people who first witnessed that Holy night. At three, they were angels. Now at twenty-three, Kamryn will be Mary, while her sister, Kyndzi, will be the Angel Gabriel. It is a family tradition to be in the vignettes of Jesus’s birth story. Their great-grandmother, Sandra Weir, is the coordinator of the cast.
St. Timothy’s loves offering this meaningful gift to the wider community. We hope you will make plans to come and experience the story of the greatest gift ever given to mankind—Jesus Christ.

The St. John's Bible
The St. John’s Bible is a handwritten, illuminated (hand illustrated) manuscript over ten years in the making. Every word of the Bible has been carefully drawn, with beautiful illustrations throughout the volumes. This year three volumes of the manuscript—Genesis, The Psalms, and the Gospels—will be on display in the courtyard hallway for people to view before or after the Living Nativity. These three volumes are on loan to St. Timothy’s from Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston, where they have a complete set of the St. John Illuminated Manuscripts. As one of the Trinity docents explained, “when I read the scripture and look at the illustrations, the Word seems to come to life in me in a way I cannot explain. My understanding of scripture has been enriched by seeing the St. John Bible.” We invite you to explore this work of art that unites an ancient Benedictine tradition with the technology and vision of today, illuminating the Word of God for a new millennium.
