EYC = Episcopal Youth Community, The youth of our parish
EYC is currently on hold due to the Corona virus.
Mission: The mission of our Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) is to honor our youth by creating relationships that will educate, transform, and sustain Christ's presence in them through formation, worship, missional outreach, and stewardship
In the words of our youth, as well as those of a couple of adult leaders, this is what youth ministry is about:“I enjoy taking part in community service because I feel that it helps my community and gives back just a little of what I have been blessed to receive.” ~Christopher
“Youth Ministry, to me, means worshipping God by mission trips, EYC, worship, service events. Also, EYC is a fun-filled way to learn about God.” ~ Bretlyn “Youth Ministry to me means having fun learning about and worshipping God in a group of friends.” ~ Ryan “EYC means learning about God and having fun, worshipping and hanging out with friends in a safe, fun, God filled environment.” ~ Kyle “To me, participating in EYC means to be part of a church community that helps other people and has fun doing it.” ~ Philip “To me, EYC means to have fun and to learn about Jesus.” ~ Cameron “I saw a beautiful, curly headed baby about two years old tottering across a damp lawn. Each time he put his foot down; there was a look of surprise. Sounds like any young person starting out each day. Our young people are a mirror of us. Each time we can make a positive impression on them is a chance for them to make a right choice.” ~John “As an adult, who grew up in the Episcopal Church, I have warm memories of spending time with my friends from Christ Church, youth group and attending Thornfield (our diocese’s “Camp Allen”). So, I really wasn’t surprised when during the annual meeting in January 2007 that I received the call to serve in youth ministry. At the time, all I knew what this meant was to give my time and ‘wisdom’ to support our youth in their spiritual growth and development. As probably anyone who has served in youth ministry can tell you, it’s a two-way street. I have gained much from our youth. It brings such joy to spend time with youth, sharing in their knowledge and faith, their support of each other and in their ongoing commitment to serving those in need.” ~ Lauren |
