Training for
Catechists of the Good Shepherd
Catechesis of the
Good Shepherd is an experiential approach to the spiritual formation
of children 2 - 12 years of age. Developed by Hebrew scholar and
theologian, Dr. Sofia Cavaletti and Montessori trainer, Gianna Gobbi,
the Catechesis assumes the child has a relationship with God, that
is, God has already made himself present to them in their deepest
being, and that they are capable of developing a conscious and
intimate relationship with God. The aim of the Catechesis is to help
the child “come close to God all by myself.”
Based
on Montessori principles of education, the Catechesis introduces the
child to the Bible and the liturgy through hands-on materials. These
materials free the child to develop his/her own relationship with
God and with the church. The catechist and the child are co-learners
seeking together the mystery of God and God’s kingdom.

VBS - M.A.D. for Jesus
Have you ever wondered what 'Good' looks like? What
does 'Good' feel like? What does 'Good' sound like? What does
'Good' taste like? What does 'Good' smell like? You are
invited to explore God's goodness for three nights June 29, 30 and
July 1 6:00-8:00 PM at St. Timothy's M.A.D. For Jesus
Intergenerational Vacation Bible School.
We will make music and dance, create art, and
improvise and play theater games under the expert guidance of Karen
McAda (singer/actor), Sheila Conner (artist) and Dana Andersen-Wyman
(actor/director). All ages are needed to explore and express the
goodness of God!
Sign up at the M&M table.
There is a $2/person materials fee. If you bring a guest, you
and your guest get in for free!
Christian Formation Summer 2010
We're planning two multigenerational programs this summer:
- Just Neighbors June 13 - August 8
This is a nine-session interactive multimedia program designed to examine in depth the pervasive issues at the root of poverty. Its purpose is to help us assist and advocate for our neighbors who are living in poverty.
- And God Saw That It Was Good August 15 - September 5
This is a four-part Christian education series based on Ken Burns' PBS film The National Parks: America's Best Idea. Themes include The Creator and Creation, God in Nature, Made in the Image of God, and A Covenant with Every Living Thing.
Mark your calendars and plan to participate. Watch for more details. If you would like to be involved in leading or assisting in sessions for children or adults, please contact Liz Parker or Lela Seay.
Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor
Donation Program information for 2009-2010 is available at the M&M table. Use your card. The benefits add up. As a result of St. Timothy's folks using our N2N ID number this past year, we were able to send $479.17 to the Home Delivered Meals program in June. It's a simple way to make a difference in the lives of the hungry in our community. Contact Lela Seay for more information. |
